Everton vs Man United
Everton and Manchester United are set to face off in the League Cup later today.
The pair will be vying for a spot in this season’s semi-finals, alongside Brentford, Manchester City and one of Stoke or Tottenham.
Man United are, of course, yet to win a trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and likely view this competition as their best chance of changing that.
United’s neighbours, Manchester City, have dominated the League Cup in recent times, though the Reds were actually the last side to clinch the trophy prior to Pep Guardiola’s men, back in 2017.
Everton, on the other hand, have never lifted the League Cup, but with decorated tactician Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, they too will likely see the competition as a winnable one.

Ancelotti on managing Man United
Ahead of the Toffees’ clash with United, Carlo Ancelotti has been discussing how he could have potentially become the Reds’ manager.
Sir Alex Ferguson, of course, retired in 2013 and helped appoint David Moyes as his successor.
But before Moyes was made boss, it seems as though Ancelotti was another name under consideration.
However, Ancelotti recently claims he couldn’t take the job because he was close to becoming Real Madrid boss, which he was from 2013-2015:
“You want to know from me [about coaching at Man Utd].
“I can say that I still keep a fantastic relationship with Sir Alex, and we met when he decided to stop (retire).
“But I was close to Real Madrid, and so I appreciate the fact that at that time he talked to me. And that’s it, no other opportunity [to manage United].”
