Agent of Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek speaks out over Sarri reunion claims

The agent of Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek has, on Friday, provided a fresh insight into his client’s future at Stamford Bridge.

Recent weeks, of course, have seen speculation begin to mount that midfielder Loftus-Cheek could be in line for a fresh summer departure from west London.

RLC endured something of a hit-and-miss campaign with Chelsea in 2021/22, racking up a respectable 39 appearances across all competitions.

Less than half of these outings, though, came in the form of starts, culminating in chatter in the media of late that those in a position of power at Stamford Bridge could opt to cash in on the club’s academy product in the case of a reasonable offer being tabled.

And one such club, in turn, tipped as a potential landing spot comes in the form of Lazio.

Murmurs have begun to spread that Maurizio Sarri would be keen to reunite with Loftus-Cheek in the Italian capital, amid ongoing speculation surrounding the future of the Biancocelesti’s star midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Speaking on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his client’s Serie A links was put to none other than Loftus-Cheek’s agent.

During an interview with Italian outlet Tuttosport, though, Jonathan Barnett was quick to shoot down rumours of a potential Sarri reunion, hinting that RLC’s focus remains firmly on all things Chelsea:

“He and [Maurizio] Sarri have an excellent relationship, but for the moment there is nothing [with Lazio].”

“Despite the club being in a transformative phase [owing to a change in ownership], Chelsea are still a top club. It is difficult to leave such a club.”
